Republic Day History – Why we celebrate?

Hello! Friends, how are you? Hopefully, all goes well. Today I am sharing one of the important topic  “History of Republic Day” with you which is as:

Republic Day
India Gate – New Delhi

On 26th of January 1950, our first President of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, had announced the birth anniversary of the Republic of India, by hoisting the Indian National Flag after the opening of 21 guns. After 894 days of getting rid of British rule, our Country becomes an independent state. Every year on 26th of January since then, Republic Day is celebrated with pride and joy in the whole nation.

This nearly 2 decades old journey was conceptualized as a dream in 1930, and the brave revolutionaries of our India came to realize this as a republic in the year 1950. Since then, India was created as a secular and democratic nation and a historical event was realized.

In the midnight of December 31, 1929, during the Lahore session of the Indian National Congress, the initiative to make the nation independent was taken. This session was chaired by Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru. All the revolutionaries present in the meeting took an oath of making a historic initiative as ‘Independence Day’ on January 26, 1930, to liberate India from the rule of the British Government and to complete full independence. Those knights of India made great efforts to fulfill their goal and India became a truly independent country.

After that, the first meeting of the Indian Constituent Assembly took place on 9 December 1946, in which Indian leaders and the British Cabinet Mission participated. There are many discussions, recommendations and debate about giving a constitution to India. After several amendments, the Indian constitution was finalized which was officially adopted on 3 November, 26 November 1949.

On this occasion, Dr. Rajendra Prasad took an oath as the first President of India. Although India had become an independent nation on August 15, 1947, it manifested the true spirit of independence on January 26, 1950. The national flag was hoisted by visiting the Irvine Stadium and thus the Indian Constitution became effective in the form of a republic.

Happy Republic Day my friends…..!!!
